Born and raised in Los Angeles, Valerie Moizel is a business owner, wife, and mother of 2 young girls. Over 20 years ago, Valerie took on the male-dominated industry of marketing and advertising and co-founded The Woo — an LA-based creative agency. Since its inception, The Woo has grown into a digital marketing powerhouse, with global clients in a multitude of industries, including technology, cosmetics, home appliances, and so many more. Having built The Woo from the ground up straight out of Art Center, along with her business partner, David Abehsera, Valerie attributes her success to young (oftentimes naïve) fearlessness, coupled with the foresight to surround herself only with people from whom she could learn.
Today, as Executive Creative Director of The Woo, she is a proud representative of the mere 3% of her industry that is female, and is diligent to maintain an almost completely balanced ratio of female to male employees within her own business.
Valerie founded SheDynasty.com with hopes it will be a source of inspiration and empowerment to her daughters, Arielle and Jordan, and to women of all generations.
We often hear the term WOMAN OWNED. But what does that really mean? Technically, it means at least 51% of a company belongs to a female. I own 50% of a successful business with a male partner and it’s been difficult for me to understand why my company wouldn’t be considered WOMAN OWNED. So I created a new term, SHE OWNED, which doesn’t marginalize women based on the amount of the company they have. Instead it celebrates their ownership at any percentage. I have poured 110% of my heart and soul into my company. It is SHE OWNED because we should recognize female leadership as business owners no matter what their piece of the pie.
